Healthy Habits That Can Help You Look Younger

Aging is a privilege. It is the accumulation of wisdom and experience. There is no reason to fear this amazing process. It is a natural phenomenon. Most people grow but not many get to age. Hair that turns grey, the face that gets all wrinkly – that is a sign of aging. But what about the experience and wisdom that lies behind those once bright eyes? That is the ultimate sign of aging.
Healthy Habits
However, the general perception about aging is not very encouraging. People, especially women, face a lot of pressure from society when it comes to aging. On top of that, we have ageist ads that constantly target women that do not age youthfully. I recently came across an anti-aging cream ad on my cable connection running on Cox cable packages. And let me tell you, it wasn’t good.

That said, here’s a list of healthy habits to make you age gracefully and youthfully:

Eating Grapes

Did you know that grapes are extremely good for your skin? If you didn’t, now you know. Fruits like grapes, pears, plums, and berries contain sorbitol. This substance is the reason behind the sweet taste of the aforementioned fruits. Sorbitol is a humectant. It attracts water when applied to the skin. A humectant is a great retainer of moisture. In short, grapes are healthy for your skin.

Touching up the Hair

Our hair changes as we age. Expert stylists note that hair becomes drier and its texture changes to coarse with age. Many hairstylists warn against heat styling. Such a hair treatment can damage your hair. Alternatively, you could go for air drying. Moreover, you could use deep conditioning treatments to protect your hair from dryness.

Cleansing & Moisturizing

Cleansing and moisturizing your skin protects it against dryness and keeps it healthy. However, do not use regular soap because it will damage your skin. Instead, apply a cleaner to your skin. Using a regular soap will strip your skin of its natural moisture. Moreover, do not use skin toners. Many skin toners have a stringent or alcohol base. These ingredients can be harmful to your skin. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize twice a day.

Grooming the Face

Well-groomed eyebrows can make you look fresh and give a youthful appearance to your face. Make sure to frame your face by taking care of your eyebrows. Yes, wrinkles come with age but that does not mean you should stop taking care of your face.

Using Hand Cream

Your hands can tell others about your age. People guess about a woman’s age by looking at her hands. It is advisable to use good hand cream. Apply a hand cream that contains SFP during the daytime. Here’s another tip to brighten your dull hands. Get sea salt and lemon juice. Mix them. Use a toothbrush to apply the solution to your hands.

Eating Vegetables

And by vegetables, I mean the greens and reds. Green vegetables are rich in Vitamin K. It helps your blood coagulate. This reduces the impact of bruising. Tomato, which is both a fruit and a vegetable, is rich in Lycopene. The substance protects the skin against harmful UV rays. Add fruits and vegetables to your diet and you’ll be amazed by the results you see.

Wearing Less Makeup

Avoid heavy makeup. Our skin loosens with age. Heavy makeup settles on young skin due to the latter being taut. It is advisable to apply less makeup on mature skin. You could go for radiant hues that provide a youthful appearance to mature skin. Wearing light makeup will make you look fresh throughout the day.

Eating Oily Fish

Another great meal for healthy skin. Fish like salmon are rich in dimethylaminoethanol. DMAE is extremely beneficial for muscle tone. It is one of the main ingredients found in expensive skin creams. It is advisable to treat yourself to oily fish twice a week. You’ll be amazed by the tremendous benefits that come with eating oily fish.

Exercising

I’m not talking about putting your body to work six times a week. A light schedule of four workout sessions per week will do just fine. Combine different exercises like cardiovascular, resistance, and stretching for a great workout session. For more info you can also submit a health guest post here.
